Have you ever been passed over for a promotion even though you knew you were the best qualified? That's happened to me... Have you ever had a job interview that just went great, you had all the right qualifications, and you had all the right answers. You even had the right experience and still didn't get the job? Me as well but, I got lucky I happened to overhear the guy that interviewed me say to his coworker as I left, "Did you get a load of that guy's breath? Wow that was bad or what?" I was so embarrassed but, I was also determined to never hear those words again. I set out to find out the bad breath causes that were giving me such bad breath and find the best halitosis cures available.

Did you ever stop to think that it just might be your breath that is holding you back from that promotion? Most people don't know that their breath stinks and unfortunately social etiquette says we are not supposed to tell someone they have bad breath it might embarrass them. No one wants to do that. No we are to be polite and just quietly walk away. The problem here is the offender is left to go on their merry way continuing to be offensive and thinking everything is fine.

I am sure you have run into someone that had really bad halitosis. They don't know they have bad breath, but you start to get nauseated at the smell and you think if you don't get away soon you're going to hurl. At this point you think to yourself, how can they not know their breath smells that bad, I mean their mouth is right under their nose. But, they can't smell it so they don't know. What if that person with the breath problem is you, guess what? You don't get the job or the promotion. Would you want to be around someone that had breath that smelled like rotten eggs?

I don't mean to offend you. I am sure you are a very clean person and I'm sure you brush your teeth twice a day. Bad breath causes even the best of us to have trouble once in a while. There are many cause of bad breath like food particles left between teeth after a meal. As these tiny pieces of food start to decompose they give off gasses like Hydrogen Sulfide (which gives off the smell of sulfur or rotten eggs), Skatole and Methyl Mercaptan (these both smell like feces). There is also Cadaverine (this smells a little like rotting meat or like something died). All of these smells are very unpleasant and can cause people to avoid you.

In a lot of cases they won't even know why they are doing it; they just feel the need to back away. See smells work on a part of the subconscious brain. Just like the smell of fresh baked bread can bring up good feelings, a bad smell will make you feel sick and want to get away from the source of their discomfort. It's just nature's own defense mechanism. We have the same response when we smell a skunk. Run! Nature has used bad smells as a defense against an attack since the beginning of time. On the other hand when you're on the receiving end of the odor our natural response is to flee. This happens without us even thinking about it. We just react. This is why you need to become aware of the causes of bad breath then you can prevent them before you head into that meeting with the boss.
