Bad Breath Cures and Why It's Good To Starve Them
Due to the fact that halitosis is such a wide-spread problem, the truth is that bad breath cures are on the minds of more people than you may realize. It's difficult to get completely accurate statistics, but it appears that somewhere between 25% and 50% of people have some degree of foul breath for which they are seeking bad breath cures. So, while it's not openly talked about, it's a problem that a great many people privately deal with. Yet, to get to some honest solutions, we have little choice but to initiate a dialogue on the subject.
What's particularly striking about foul breath is the large discrepancy between widespread knowledge about causes versus cures. It seems a lot of people can offer up a whole host of valid causes of unpleasant breath. If nothing else, poor oral hygiene is a good guess. Since the bacteria are alive, they are producing waste. This all stems from the fact that they are feeding on food that lags behind in our mouth, primarily proteins. When they excrete waste, the sulfur that results produces noxious smells.
Once we've figured out one of the main things accounting for the foul breath, a number of bad breath cures necessarily fall into place. First, of course, we can change our diet. Obviously we can stay away from pungent foods like garlic and onions. But, aside from just avoiding foods, we can also strive to eat more of other foods. See, by consuming greater amounts of fruits and vegetables, we starve the bacteria by depriving them of the proteins they thrive upon.
There are other bad breath cures that fall into alignment. For instance, even if you didn't want to modify your diet, you could make use of after-the-fact solutions. One is baking soda. This addressed the bacteria directly if you do not want to avoid the foods they love. Baking soda is nowadays a popular ingredient in many toothpastes. However, you can also just gargle with a mixture of baking soda and water. Some people even make a thick paste that can be used to brush the teeth and tongue. The baking soda is one of the most direct bad breath cures, as it changes the ph in the mouth and affects the living quarters of the bacteria.
One of the bad breath cures is actually quite healthy to boot. You can just begin drinking green tea, unsweetened. The ployphenols in the tea counteract the bacteria growth. Drinking frequently also help by keeping your mouth moist. The dry mouth contributes to the problem. Just think about how your breath is after you've slept all night and your mouth is dry! As you can see, there is a wide variety of bad breath cures to choose from. This is not nearly all, but it gives you some sense of what's available.
